Abstract

A generous government supporting local innovation and partnership between municipal and the police has marked Scandinavian strategies dealing with delinquency, gang membership and violent extremism among youths and young adults. This presentation looks at the increasingly complex reality faced by local stakeholder in their efforts to prevent gang joining and facilitating gang desistance in Norway and asks to what extent “former” remedies are suitable when faced with “new” challenges.
