In 2014, Congress created the Charles Colson Task Force on Federal Corrections to conduct a comprehensive, independent evaluation of the federal prison system and issue detailed recommendations for reform. In January 2016, the nine-member task force issued its final report. This presentation will summarize the task force’s major findings and recommendations, which are based on a year of study and interviews with key stakeholders including corrections officials, prosecutors, defense attorneys, former inmates and others.
