Federal Criminal Justice Reform in 2017 and Beyond

Thu, Nov 17, 8:00 to 9:20am, Hilton, Grand Salon 13, 1st Level

Abstract

Congress has not passed significant criminal justice reform legislation since 2010, when it reduced the disparity between crack and powder cocaine penalties through the Fair Sentencing Act. With a new president and a new Congress preparing to take office, this presentation will examine the prospects for—and nature of—legislative and executive-branch reforms to the federal prison system.
