Abstract

This presentation will provide an overview of prison downsizing, also known as decarceration. The discussion will address issues such as how prison downsizing came to the forefront; what efforts are currently underway to decrease correctional populations; the efficacy and effectiveness of these activities, if known; and whether or not mass decarceration is truly a movement.
