Abstract

Inmates at a medium-security prison in southern California work for months training shelter dogs to act as service animals for disabled US veterans and autistic children. An inspirational story of sacrifice and hope, it is a win-win-win--for the animals, who find a loving home, for the challenged, who find much-needed companionship and support, and the prisoners, who find purpose in a world that has given up on them.
