Theoretical Explanation of Homicide

• In Event: Murder Investigation: Comparison between South Korea and the United States

Abstract

This study presents the overview of homicide including the recent trend, theoretical explanations, and theoretical application to criminal justice system. Three mainstream theoretical approaches are summarized – social structural perspective, cultural perspective, and evolutionary psychological perspective. For applications to the criminal justice, deterrence and punishment effects are discussed.
