Murder Investigation in South Korea

Abstract

Arrest rate for murder and attempted murder cases in Korea are very high. This paper will discuss the three reasons for the efficient work of the Korean police on murder/attempted murder cases; 1) well-organized police investigation system; 2) cooperation among police agencies and nationwide investigation network due to the centralized national police system; and 3) efficient and swift police action (setting up temporary investigation center and utilizing experienced detectives). In addition, this paper provides problems Korean police force is facing today as well.
