In this presentation, we provide an overview of basic research examining school climate and school safety with a specific focus on the identification of underlying strategies associated with effective or promising school violence prevention programs. We examine programs’ logic models or program theories, assess the transportability of programs, and examine implementation fidelity. Given the penchant for practitioners to “tweak” programs, we then identify general strategies associated with successful programs rather than individual programs.
