Wed, Nov 16, 11:00am to 12:20pm, Hilton, Grand Salon 22, 1st Level

Abstract

Research has shown clear and consistent evidence that peers influence antisocial behavior. Emerging in the criminological literature is a body of research that examines sibling influences on behaviors. As more research is conducted in this area, it is apparent that siblings, and their peers, have an impact on antisocial behavior. Using data from the PSID-CDS, the current study seeks to examine whether older sibling’s delinquent peers have an impact on younger respondents self-reported antisocial behavior controlling for various demographic and theoretically relevant variables. Our findings add to a growing body of literature that examines familial influences on antisocial behavior.
