Components of Effective Crime Enforcement and Prevention

Fri, Nov 18, 12:30 to 1:50pm, Hilton, Grand Ballroom D, 1st Level

Abstract

Poor neighborhoods in most countries, but especially in the developing world, tend to experience higher crimes than middle-class and affluent communities. Lack of government services also tend to translate into lack of adequate police and justice system services. Experiences from several countries are reviewed that point to the fact that comprehensive responses to crime and violence require policies that support community oriented, problem solving police approaches in combination with restorative justice efforts. The review and publication outline the needed elements for implementation.
