Crime Reporting by Victims

Thu, Nov 17, 12:30 to 1:50pm, Hilton, Grand Salon 24, 1st Level

Abstract

This study investigates whether the likelihood of crime reporting differs by victim, offender, and incident characteristics. Using data from the National Crime Victimization Survey between 2005 and 2014, it performs multivariate logistic regression analysis to explore correlates of crime reporting by victims. The study also discusses demographic differences and temporal trends in reasons for victims’ decisions not to report crime.
