This study will examine the distal and proximal precursors of intimate partner violence (IPV) by Korean women living in the United States, with a novel method named might-cause chain analysis, which is diagramming the network and chain of events from narratives. By identifying the sequence of specific acts/conditions preceding the women’s violence against their spouses, the situational dynamics that lead to IPV will be investigated. Data were obtained from online postings narrating episodes of authors’ use of IPV, posted by Korean women in the United States.
