Sports Participation and Juvenile Delinquency among the U.S. Youth

Abstract

This study examines whether sports-related extracurricular activities reduce adolescents’ juvenile delinquent behaviors. I utilize the Social Bonding Theory and data are collected from the first wave of the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (Add Health) to test the research hypothesis.
