The article investigates women’s victimization in São Paulo Metro - the largest rapid transit system in Brazil, and the second largest in South America. The article looks at all types of crimes using self-reported data collected at subway system in 2014-2015 and devotes special attention to the nature and temporal dynamics of sexual crimes against women. The article reports on the current crime prevention programs at subway system and concludes by addressing the overall security needs of women passengers on public transport systems in the Global South.
