This presentation will discuss the multifaceted approach used by the Justice, Law and Society department at Mount Aloysius College to move learning in corrections courses outside of the classroom. We will discuss the multitude of programs and courses that are available to students to deepen their understanding of current issues facing correctional systems. Specifically, we will highlight students’ participation in service-learning projects, volunteerism at various prison events and participation in Inside-Out modeled courses. In addition to describing these programs, we will discuss student perspective, securing university support, difficulty with assessment and logistical challenges in creating these programs,
