Evaluation of a Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative in Clark County, Washington

Fri, Nov 18, 11:00am to 12:20pm, Hilton, Quarterdeck B, Riverside Complex

Abstract

The Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative was founded by the Annie E. Casey Foundation in 1992. Nationally, there are close to 300 counties that have adopted JDAI. However, there are relatively few scientific evaluations of JDAI programs. This evaluation uses individual and aggregate level data from a JDAI program in Clark County, Washington, with a specific focus on two JDAI goals: (1) reductions in the use of juvenile detention, and (2) reductions in racial/ethnic disparities in the use of incarceration/detention.
