In the past few years the world is witnessing a phenomenan of citezens that turn their back against their homeland and are recruited to terrorism.
Their motives are various and one of them is the absence of the sens of belonging to the place they were born and raised in.
The present study is examining the influence of acceptance of minoryties by majoryties, on the sens of true belonging to the general society among minoryties.
Acceptance was examined according to two main aspects: the majority's tolerance towards the unique charecteristics of the minority; it's ethnic origine as percepted by students;Arabs and jewish and a second aspect of the implimintation of a policy of equale opportunity towards minoryties.
The combined influence of those aspects on the felling of belonging was analyzed according to the functional measurment method which is based on the cognitive theory of cognition.
The findings were collected among 127 participants, 70 Israeli- arabs studens and 57 Israeli-jewish students, all are non religeous and studing for BA in the Western Galilee College in Israel.
Preliminary results will be presented.
