A wide variety of issues related to the use of restrictive housing and administrate segregation in prison and jail facilities have garnered national attention among politicians, advocates, scholars, and corrections officials. In particular, this portion of the panel provides an overview of descriptive data both before and after the implementation of several key policy changes surrounding the use of segregation in Ohio prisons. The discussant will discuss challenges in terms of their implications for future research studies, objective prison classification, staff climate, and information tracking and monitoring.
