Using Safety Equipment of Reduce Harm for Corrections Officers: Assessing What Works

Abstract

Prisons are dangerous environments in which to work and staff are vulnerable to and fearful of assaults. Given this reality, prison administrators invest significant resources in equipment and technologies with the goal of enhancing correctional officer safety however at times, these investments lack an understanding of their effectiveness. CNA will conduct a rigorous evaluation of officer safety equipment modalities available to correctional facilities. Findings will be beneficial to corrections administrators in deciding how to invest limited resources to improve officer safety. The presentation will provide project updates and next steps.
