Gender Based Violence at the University: An International Comparison

Wed, Nov 16, 12:30 to 1:50pm, Hilton, Bridge, Riverside Complex

Abstract

The American University system has faced scrutiny in the recent years in regards to the way instants of gender based violence are handled. Over 125 schools have been investigated for Title IV violations concerning sexual assault. The United States is known as being one of the most violent nations. This raises the question of whether or not gender based violence happens at the same rates at universities internationally or if this is an American phenomenon. Prevalence of gender based violence, policies and procedures, and prevention programing if any will be compared between universities in the United States and Europe.
