Research on Police Investigative Practices and Needs

Abstract

As part of an ongoing project, researchers working with the Chicago Police Department have been documenting perceptions of the effectiveness and internal needs in order to improve the department's ability to conduct successful investigations into homicides and sex assaults. This presentation will focus on building relationships between the police department and researchers in order to both increase the knowledge base for the discipline and provide useful information directed by and for the police department.
