Understanding the role of structural, organizational, and demographic factors in the early adoption of body-worn cameras

Wed, Nov 16, 5:00 to 6:20pm, Hilton, Royal, 3rd Level

Abstract

The current study investigates the early adoption of body-worn cameras within law enforcement agencies throughout the United States. Structural, organizational, and demographic characteristics of these agencies and their surrounding communities will be examined to identify differences between agencies that do and do not use this technology. Archival data were drawn from several reports: 2008 Census of State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies (CSLLEA), Law Enforcement Management and Administrative Statistics (LEMAS), 2012 Uniform Crime Report (UCR), and the 2010 U.S. Census. These data have been merged and will be used in various analyses including regression modeling.
