Self-Directed Victim Offender Mediation: A Tool of Self-Empowerment

Abstract

As a survivor of incest, I decided to contact my cousin (“offender”) and organize a Victim-Offender Mediation (VOM). After he consented, I organized and acted as the mediator. In my experience, VOM can be used by survivors themselves without the intervention of the Criminal Justice System.
