Multi-Site Reentry Court Process Evaluation

Fri, Nov 18, 8:00 to 9:20am, Hilton, St. James Ballroom, 3rd Level

Abstract

The NESCAARC process evaluation provides an overview of the reentry court model based on findings from a series of site visits to each of the seven study sites, as well as an eighth site that planned a reentry court program but was unable to sustain it. Repeat visits to each site were made over a three-year period. During these visits, researchers conducted interviews with reentry court staff, observed staff meetings and court sessions, and conducted focus groups with reentry court participants. The paper describes reentry court policies and practices across the sites relative to “treatment as usual” . Findings to be presented include implementation challenges and solutions; organizational partnerships and interagency communication; and participant feedback including motivation for enrolling, attitudes toward reentry court staff, and recommendations for program improvement.
