This paper will explore the role of Black women in the discipline of criminology/criminal justice. It will provide an overview of their historical and contemporary status as academicians and practitioners from the late 1800s to the present. Analyses of their research foci and contributions since 2000 are included. The paper will address the issue of where Black women in the discipline go from here in the context of recommendations for strategic teaching, research and service during the next decade.
