The National Centre for Dance Therapy: Move the World Differently

Thu, Nov 17, 11:00am to 12:20pm, Hilton, Quarterdeck B, Riverside Complex

Abstract

In 2013, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal launched the National Centre for Dance Therapy. This new Centre, an unprecedented initiative, was created as part of the mission of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal to move the world, differently. The Centre is dedicated to the development of the dance/movement therapy in Canada, which it does by its three interconnected services: dance / movement therapy services, clinical research, and developing a Canadian training program in dance therapy. Following impressive growth in the last three years, Christian Sénéchal presents in this chapter the genesis of the project, the philosophy behind its development and the ways in which its programs are co-created around knowledge transfer and interdisciplinary research.
