Restorative Justice Quilt

Thu, Nov 17, 11:00am to 12:20pm, Hilton, Quarterdeck B, Riverside Complex

Abstract

In 2004 and 2005 Meagan O'Shea traveled across Canada meeting victims or their survivors and offenders of serious crimes who were involved in a Restorative Justice process and talked to 40 people who were involved in a Restorative Justice process. Including numerous people incarcerated and survivors of or victims of serious crime. Each person created a piece of fabric art that O'Shea and her team made into a quilt. When the quilt is touched it triggers the audio recording of that person telling their story. O'Shea also created a dance-storytelling performance to accompany the quilt, detailing the experience of meeting all of these people.
