Blog to Critical Research: The Journey to Find Collective and Self-Efficacy in a Women's Federal Prison

Abstract

This presentation offers unique insights into the lives and experiences of women in federal prison. Specifically, there are examples of collective and self-efficacy efforts that do not currently exist in corrections research. Findings allow for fuller understanding of women’s prison experiences, as well as experiences in federal medical centers.

This research also provides an opportunity to use convict criminology theoretical perspective as a framework for a large hypothesis based academic research study.

Finally, this autoethnographical study allows researchers, students, and policy makers to gain understanding as to the benefits and consequences of incarcerating and housing women from all security levels together within our federal system.
