Prosecution and Sentencing of Child Pornography Cases

Abstract

All child pornography cases filed in Harris County, Texas, are examined. Characteristics of offenders are examined, as well as determination of how the offender came to the attention of the police. Outcome processing by the prosecutor is examined including charges dropped, no billed by grand jury, deferred adjudication, prosecution, and prison. Independent variables are included in a statistical model to determine if any variables significantly predict the final outcome.
