Interactive Model for Confidence in the Police Research

Abstract

While the literature is replete with empirical studies on confidence in the police, measures of community-oriented policing (COP) have been under-explored. We propose social distance as an indirect yet valid measure of COP in action. Our study is poised to examine how social distance interacts with other determinants of confidence in the police. Also, between-neighborhood effects are controlled through fixed effect modeling. Findings are discussed for policy implication to local and regional agencies.
