This paper explores the integration of concepts from general strain and social disorganization theories to explain county level differences in intimate partner homicide in Texas. Using data from 2008-2012, we test separate and combined models of variation in county level IPH rates in Texas during this period. Models are tested with both total and sex-specific IPH rates. Findings indicate that an integrated model is more effective in explaining variation in IPH rates. We discuss implications of the findings and suggest additional research.
