Abstract
This study is an analysis of the perspectives and knowledge of six professional experts; two in the field of victim service work and four in the field of academic research, with a speciality in policing. Qualitative interviews allowed for the examination of practical police victimization research methods. Qualitative interviews led to the emergence of themes related to police culture, gatekeepers, preparedness, research framing, procedure. The views of participants have been reviewed to identify considerations researchers should make before conducting police victimization research, whether traditional research method can be used when exploring this topic, and which traditional methods work best. Overall, this study bridging the gap between traditional methods and the new emerging subject of police victimization.
