Creating Your Niche as Non-Tenure Professor in an Academic Tenured World

Abstract

When one is a position that is renewable annually, it can create a great deal of anxiety. In this world, understanding how the department operates and examining the program’s needs becomes the linchpin. Through one case, I will discuss how I have navigated my role as untenured faculty at an institution striving to increase research output.
