While there has been increasing interest in the “school-to-prison pipeline” phenomena, much is left to be desired. Utilizing data from Chicago Public Schools database, this study will address several gaps in the extant literature. While much literature has analyzed dichotomous racial disparities amongst White and Black students, little attention has been paid to the Hispanic population. Examining the Chicago Public School database from year 2011-2015, this study will be two fold: (1) addressing police contact with Hispanic students and (2) examining the rate of out of school suspensions (OSS) on student performance.
