This poster takes a closer look at the risk factors adults in the greater Lucas County area face that may result in higher recidivism rates. Findings are based off of data that was collected in a pilot program that was run in conjunction with the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) by caseworkers that were able to conduct interviews with program participants. The Collateral Sanctions Policy in Ohio allows individuals to participate in different types of programs, post release, such as the Fresh Start Halfway House for those that are chemically dependent, job assistance or certification programs, and assistance with their mental and emotional management of different life skills (Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, 2008). The main goal of the program was looking to ensure that individuals have access to necessary assistance, education, or healthcare in order to help best set them up to succeed in a successful reentry to society once released from incarceration.
