Child Trafficking: How Aware Are We?

Abstract

The poster showcases the findings of the comparison between a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Special (TBI) Agent in the Criminal Intelligence Unit- Human Trafficking and Tennessee’s general population understanding of the issue of child trafficking in the State of Tennessee. The intention of the study sought if Tennessee’s population was aware on the issue of child trafficking. A pragmatic research design was utilized to conduct the study. A series of ten research including open and closed questions were utilized to address six topic areas for the two different focus groups. Over a series of three days, the questionnaires were all compared and analyzed. The findings of the surveys conclude there were 80 percent similarities in responses between the TBI’s Special Agent and the general public. The poster not only explicates the discovery of the awareness and understanding of the Tennessean general population’s concept of child trafficking, but also provides an overview of child trafficking and recommendations on eradicating child trafficking.
