The ‘Ndrangheta from Calabria to Non-Traditional Territories--Diversification of Activities and Delocalisation of Structures

Abstract

The ‘ndrangheta has a reputation of a poly-crime and migrating mafia. This presentation, while proposing an analysis of mafia movements, will assess and discuss various forms and manifestations of the ‘ndrangheta as criminal force within and outside of Calabria. In doing so, it will look at various illicit markets the clans invest in and are protagonist of, presenting some selected and relevant cases to show the versatility and the flexibility of illegal activities of the Calabrian clans today. References to the newly published Palgrave book “'Ndrangheta. The Glocal Dimensions of the Most Powerful Italian Mafia”, are made.
