Social Learning Theory and the Misuse of Prescription Stimulants on a Southern University

Thu, Nov 17, 6:00 to 7:00pm, Hilton, Grand Ballroom A, 1st Level

Abstract

Through the months of August to November I will be collecting data on the misuse of prescription stimulants on a southern university campus. Through this data I will be using correlations and regression analysis to analyze the prevalence rates of this misuse. Through previous literature many scholars have stated that members of social Greek organizations are more likely to misuse than those who are not members. I aim to test this statement while explaining the impacts of social learning theory. While I do not have any data or results at this time, I believe that the university population will give us a better visual on the increasing problem of stimulant misuse. The population consist of a wide range of diversity, economic status, and backgrounds.
