Towards of Typology of Retaliatory Disputes

Abstract

This study examines 210 Rochester Police Department dispute bulletins to expand understanding of urban retaliatory violence. First, we utilize a cluster analysis to derive a typology of urban retaliatory violence. Then we examine the extent that different types of retaliatory disputes account for variation in the nature and amount of retaliatory violence. The theoretical and policy implications of these findings are discussed
