African Americans and the Constitution: More Than Just Law

Fri, Nov 18, 2:00 to 3:20pm, Hilton, Warwick, 3rd Level

Abstract

In critically looking at the history of the U.S. Constitution and African Americans, one has to look at the context of the creation of the constitution and its interpretation through the lens of history, political economy, and racism. Merely looking at the court decisions in a strictly "black letter" law manner is devoid of real meaning , context and the reality on the ground.
