Crime and Eating Disorders

Thu, Nov 17, 6:00 to 7:00pm, Hilton, Grand Ballroom A, 1st Level

Abstract

Eating disorders, while researched frequently in the social sciences, are seldom discussed in the field of Criminology. While research by Akagi-kohgen Hospital in Japan showed a connection between shoplifting and eating disorders, little scholarly research exists regarding this topic. We will measure and assess the decision making processes and various connections of respondents with eating disorders to criminal, delinquent, and antisocial acts.
