Expanding the National Decertification Index: The Challenges Ahead

Abstract

Recommendation 2.15 calls for the expansion of the National Decertification Index. This presentation will discuss the need for decertification as a layer of accountability in policing and describe the challenges of seeking national participation given the diversity of laws across the states. He will also discuss the survey of POST directors regarding the federal role in decertification and the effectiveness of this process.
