Abstract
Studies have indicated the amorphous nature of masculine identity. Consequently, masculine ideals are hard to define, and perhaps even harder to achieve. Thus, men who do not match such benchmarks face stigmatisation and socioeconomic disadvantage. This panel explores how variations in masculinity shape conceptualisations of deviance, inequality and identity.
