Session Submission Summary

Emergent Research on Inmate Social Networks

Wed, Nov 16, 11:00am to 12:20pm, Hilton, Jefferson Ballroom, 3rd Level

Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel

Abstract

This session includes four papers on inmate networks and their associations with recidivism, treatment, and reentry outcomes. The first paper (Hickert) describes longitudinal visitation networks and their association with post-release recidivism, the second paper (Cochran) examines the theoretical link between prison transfer and inmate networks, and the final two papers (Whichard and Davidson) focus on inmate-reported social support and treatment networks. Together, the presentations are at the forefront of an exciting new research agenda that connects inmate network dynamics with the consequences of incarceration.
