Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
The study of desistance from crime has become a well established part of the criminological literature. However, with a few exceptions, this research has neglected individuals who have committed patterns of sexual crimes. This panel will feature three studies that explore this process from a narrative perspective.
Self-Narratives of Desisting Sex Offenders: Where are the Redemption Scripts? - Shadd Maruna, Rutgers University
Looking Forward, Not Back: Sexual Offender Predictions for Their Future - Breanne Pleggenkuhle, Southern Illinois University; Kimberly R. Kras, University of Massachusetts Lowell; Beth Huebner, University of Missouri - St. Louis
Desistance from Sexual Offending: Life Narratives of Recidivism and Redemption - Danielle Arlanda Harris, San Jose State University
