Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session
Emerging evidence suggests a lack of reintegration services in rural Humboldt County, CA. In an effort to understand the disconnect between the clients and the services, we will conduct focus groups and interviews with current inmates at Humboldt County Corrections Facility (n = 12), service providers (n = 8) and ex-offenders (n = 5) from Humboldt County and surrounding areas. We are hoping to promote communication between both parties that will ease the process of reentry and inhibit recidivism through empowerment and access to necessary resources. This research will serve as a guide in the planning and development of the new rehabilitation center in the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. The rehabilitation center will be used to support inmates. We aim to use the information gathered from this study to assist in the development of the plans for services offered in the rehabilitation center. We also aim to create a pocket-size resource guide for those returning to the community based off of information gathered from this study.
