Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel

Abstract

A vast and growing amount of studies has shown an association between romantic relationships and criminal offending . However, much about the mechanisms underlying this association remains to be understood. In this thematic panel four studies will be presented that further investigate several topics regarding romantic relationships and criminal offending, including romantic involvement, relationship characteristics, and assortative mating. These studies are based on Dutch and American datasets, and both quantitative and qualitative analyses have been used.
