Comparative Analyses of Corporate Corruption and State Crime

Abstract

This thematic panel discusses the continued issues of corporate corruption, government crime, and fraud. Henry Pontell employs a comparative perspective to identify forces affecting modalities of corruption and official responses in the U.S. and China. William Black discusses problems that can kill and maim car customers, including the common characteristic of the Takata airbag, GM ignition switch, and VW pollution scandals. Adam Ghazi-Tehrani explains why China suddenly suspended rare earth exports to Japan following yet another dispute over the Diaoyu/Senkaku islands.
