Session Submission Summary

Radicalization to Violent Extremism: Is One Thing Like Another?

Sat, Nov 19, 9:30 to 10:50am, Hilton, Marlborough A, 2nd Level

Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel

Abstract

Numerous practitioners and experts studying the problem of radicalization to violent extremism have proposed that similarities may or may not exist with other forms of violence. This panel assembles a group of researchers to problematize these potential analogies. The presenters, all recipients of funding from the National Institute of Justice, will explore the potential parallels between radicalization on the one hand and such issues as trafficking in persons, mass casualty shootings and gang violence.
