Examining Newark, New Jersey: Street Drug Markets, Violent Crime Places, and Police Interactions

Abstract

In this session, three presentations will explore issues involving crime and violence in Newark, New Jersey.
Quantitative analyses of street drug markets and violent street segments will be presented to provide a greater understanding of where crime is concentrated within the city. Additionally, a qualitative analysis of police and youth interactions will be presented in order to shed light on police-minority community relations.
